Outside of yoga, I also participate in a book club. We learned about this book as a recommendation from a fellow book club member. I had no expectations about what I planned to get out of reading this book. I am always open to giving books a try thanks to my Audible membership. The book is called, Happier Now: How to Stop Chasing Perfection and Embrace Everyday Moments (Even the Difficult Ones) by Nataly Kogan. More than likely, you aspire to be happy, but what does happy really mean to you? When How long does happiness last? This book has journal prompts to encourage reflection and a way to review progress overtime.
The first half is a memoir and the second half is the guide. In both parts the book are journal prompts to trigger reflection and thought throughout your read. In the first half of the book, Nataly introduces a habit that she calls “daily anchors”. These activities are small habits that help cultivate emotional health, resilience, and joy.
Five core “Happier Skills” acceptance, gratitude, intentional kindness, the bigger why (connecting to purpose and meaning), and self-care.
If you have been curious about journaling but didn’t know where to start, I would recommend this book. There is also an audio version!
